The rift in society had been growing for over forty years. Finally, like a pimple coming to a head, the pressure had caused the country to explode. The result was fighting in the streets and bloodshed as it had never been seen before in history. The Blue Army was defined by a pure ideology as was the Red Army. This war was a fight not over territory, but rather a battle for the minds of we the people.
It all started when the Blues came to power and began to initiate progressive policies which were intended to take the country forward, keeping pace with the rapidly changing world. Thus allowing America to remain competitive with other countries.
On the other hand, the Reds had a vision of isolation and preserving the past. The Reds welcomed neither new people or new ideas. Now it was too late. The country has become a wasteland deadlocked in armed conflict. The war has now devastated America. The once United States is now a shell of her former self. The state of the Union is kaput. We are now the divided states of America.
Neighbors have become armed combatants against one another. What is worst, brothers have become mortal enemies. Whole cities are now in ruins. There are corpses in the streets and alleyways in various stages of decomposition. The air smells of death and destruction. To think this could have all been avoided had the Blues not insisted that the Reds agree to switch to the metric system. That was the last straw. The Reds hated learning new things.
Mankind has been on a roll. Generation after generation technology has effectively made the world an ever-smaller place. Starting with radio, then television, and now the internet and social media. The net effect is that virtually the entire civilized world is in touch.
Finally, the mother of all communication technologies has arrived. No one saw it coming, but now it is here, and there is no going back. The mass communication technology to weld the global human consciousness together has been developed. The guesswork is gone.
Companies now have analytics which can predict what consumers will want, down to the color, size, and flavor. Children know what their parents want. Spouses don’t fight anymore over small things, because there are no more secrets. Everything is now out in the open. The new technology has given us the ability to read each other's minds. The secret world inside our heads as we knew it is over.
